Our collection of photographs are not available in any other form anywhere else in the world. 2009 Cliffs to Coast is the brainchild of Andy and Joy Matejka, residents of Winston Salem and founders of Carolina Calendars, Inc. The inaugural calendar is printed and published right here in NC too! Go figure. Nothing made in China, Canada or Mexico, not that there is anything wrong with that! (see comparative advantage) We employ real North Carolinians and no animals were injured (although I did skin a knee, but it got better!) to bring you this fantastic photo collection that is not available in stores! The main purpose of our company is to combine our love for travel, recreation and photography with the goal of giving back to the Community as a whole through the marketing and distribution of a simple calendar. "I've always wanted to run my own company like this. It's a dream come true and a labor of love so to speak. We've been planning this for several years now and I just couldn't wait any longer. I have to start now in order to plan for 2010's calendar. We are seeking corporate sponsorship that will underwrite our budget and allow us to focus on the distribution aspect." Andy Matejka, CEO of Carolina Calendars, Inc. has a BA in economics from NC State and isn't overly concerned about the current economic climate. "Tourism is a nearly $18 billion industry in North Carolina and we love the beach, mountains, and the Piedmont. It's a simple case of build it and they will come. Joy and I have assembled a collection of great photos and have it available for a great value! We plan to keep the cost low so the fundraisers' can reach their goals without breaking the wallets of their patrons. It's not as tasty as a candy bar, but viewing these pictures every day is just perfect for those who are working for the weekend." Carolina Calendars, Inc.'s business plan includes many types of promotional concepts determined to provide a valuable revenue stream to local fundraisers, advertising opportunities to local businesses, scholarship awards to participants and much more. "We expect to grow quickly. Our goal is to provide an inexpensive version of our calendar every year with the help of our sponsors to NC PTA groups so that they may generate maximum revenue with little overhead or effort on their part, thereby allowing them to focus on the kids they are teaching." Carolina Calendars, Inc. also owns www.ilovenc.com, www.carolinacalendars.com, in addition to www.helpyourpta.org. Any use of the websites, its photos and content without the expressed written consent of Carolina Calendars, Inc. November 7, 2008 Carolina Calendars, Inc. has begun its direct marketing campaign to NC schools by mailing postcards to over 500 educational institutions announcing its November sales contest and introducing itself to the public! President and CEO Andy Matejka has decided that there is no time like the present to invest in his Company and his dream. "Tough economic times don't last, tough people do. Now, more than ever, PTA groups are in need of funds. That hasn't changed. What has changed is that many parents are faced with less disposable income in their budgets. A year of higher consumer prices and crumbling financial markets has millions of people worrying about their own prosperity. How is a class going to pay for a $250 light bulb for its Smart Board when it burns out? Petty Cash? I don't think so. Not according to my son's kindergarten teacher." Hopefully, a school's participation in our program will begin to add money directly to their bottom line budget with only a minimal effort on their end. "PTA groups are historically short on both time and money and we are attempting to build that type of bridge over that gap." When asked about the future plans and current goals for the organization: "Hopefully, this year's test market will position us for greater success next year. It is a learning process. This year we are building the foundation for 2009, 2010 and beyond. We've planned and saved in order to develop our business concept. Our focus will be to generate a functional and profitable model in North Carolina before we begin franchising or expanding to other states. It is clearly a learn to crawl and walk scenario before we can run!" Anxious to run, Carolina Calendars is preparing to publish and distribute 100,000 calendars for 2010 during the fall of 2009, but is ready to distribute one million if it can acquire the right corporate sponsors who will choose to share in the Mission and Vision of helping its local PTA's. They have the ability and the desire to produce individual calendar designs targeted to specific markets, incorporate local marketing and advertising campaigns to produce quantitative results for the PTA's, its local businesses and the memberships they support. E-mail us with any suggestions or questions you may have about how your group can participate in receiving promotional exposure from our marketing partnerships and campaigns!
